Next Up: Quarterfinals
With the final workout of the 2026 CrossFit Open behind us, the next stage of the season is already right around the corner.
This year, CrossFit has brought Quarterfinals back, and the top 25% of athletes from the Open leaderboard will move on to this next round of competition.
Originally, we believed there would be about a month between the end of the Open and the start of Quarterfinals. However, it turns out the turnaround is much quicker this year, quarterfinals will take place the weekend of March 28th.
That means things will move fairly quickly from here.
If you receive confirmation from CrossFit HQ that you have qualified for Quarterfinals, please let us know as soon as possible. Once we know who will be competing, we can begin organizing some of the logistics for the weekend. We also need to see how the workouts will be, length of time, etc.
In past years, Quarterfinals has consisted of four workouts completed over a couple of days. We have typically run the workouts across Friday and Saturday, giving athletes times for each of the workouts while also allowing us to not disrupt the other class times in the facility.
Of course, the exact structure will depend on a couple of things. We’ll need to see how many athletes qualify, and we’ll need to review the workouts once they are released. I will have to get confirmation, but I believe that we can also only have registered judges who have taken the official judges course judge. So that will also be a factor in the schedule.
Just like the Open, events like Quarterfinals rely on planning, judging, and community support. Once we have a clearer picture of who has qualified, we’ll share more details about how the weekend will run.
For now, keep an eye on your email from CrossFit. If you receive a Quarterfinals qualification notice, please let us know right away so we can start putting the plan together.
