Could 26.1 be 12.1?
There’s been a lot of chatter in the CrossFit world about what the open workouts might be.
CrossFit put out a video of Dave speaking while he was having one of the workouts tested, with a title, Oops did we just leak 26.1 or something along those lines.
During the video, Dave said something that stood out:
“Everyone can do this workout. It’s just a matter of how far you want to get.”
Or something along those lines. That got me to thinking. Could 26.1 be 12.1? Burpees to a target are very doable for everyone. It’s a brutally honest, and mentally demanding workout, and you have to want to keep going. They don’t require a ton of skill mastery or strength thresholds. They require effort. Period. That’s exactly what 12.1 represented back in the day.
So could it be?
Open registration has been live for just over a week. So far, 35 of you have signed up, which is awesome. But over the last few days, registrations have pretty much come to a standstill.
If you’re planning on doing the 2026 CrossFit Open, now is the time to make it official.
For the three Saturdays of the Open, we will not be running regular classes.
Instead:
We will be running Open workout heats only
Those heats are for registered athletes
If you want to participate in those Saturday workouts, you must be officially registered for the CrossFit Open
Even if you’re not chasing scores.
Even if you’re just in it for fun.
Even if you want to experience the energy, community, and the magic that only the open brings.
If 26.1 really is a throwback to 12.1, it’s a reminder of what the Open is actually about.
Not perfection.
Not comparison.
Not winning the internet.
Just showing up, working hard for seven minutes, and seeing what happens.
