Community Cup Workout 2
We’re doing Community Cup workout 2 today. Those of you who are officially competing should have received an email from us Monday afternoon. When we went to put in our scores on Monday, it asked for a required Judge. We have a message from CrossFit Affiliates from last week where we asked them to confirm that if these workouts were programmed in the classes, those competing still required a judge. Their response was, Judges are not required for the community cup.
With that in mind, we had reworked the way we were doing the Community Cup, so we emailed all of you and let you know to use the judge as the Coach that is on the floor at the time you do the workout. Workouts must be done inside CrossFit Indestri.
For workout 2, rowers are required. We only have 14 rowers, so should the class have more than 14 people in it, those who are officially signed up to do the workout, will have first access to a rower, as their workouts can not be adjusted in any way.
The standards for the workout are linked here. If you are competing, READ THEM. It is as much your responsibility as the athlete competing to know the standards.
Please uphold the integrity of the movement standards. If you struggle with the depth of your squat in the OHS position, slow down, ensure you squat to depth every rep. Ensure your chin is over the bar every rep.
As much as we’re struggling with the idea of not having a judge directly beside you in competition, we do really like the idea of everyone understanding the integrity of the movement standard, and how important it is to your growth in your fitness. Movement standards exist for reasons outside of competition, because we can measure our fitness, but only if we have targets to measure against. If we never squat to depth, and then one day we do, chances are on the day we do, our scores are going to be slower, or less reps, and we’ll wonder why.
So please ensure you hold the standards.
On a side note: As many of you know, for 8 years I was part of running Canada’s Largest Functional Fitness Competition ( UG Series ). While we did have athletes podium at events from time to time, one of the greatest sources of pride we had in our CrossFit Indestri athletes was the way they moved. As you can imagine over 8 years we would see some interesting movement in competition. Other gyms owners use to comment to both Scott and I when he still owned CFI, on how well Indestri athletes moved. Podiums are nice, but the greatest compliment you can get is how well your athletes hold themselves.
