Busy evenings are coming
September is almost here, and with it comes the start of another busy season of team training for us.
We’ve got a lot of teams joining us this fall and winter, and we’re excited to have the gym filled with teams who have seen the benefit CrossFit can have for their young athletes.
Starting in September, we’ll have two teams training with us across two evenings each week. Once we move into October, things really pick up, with team training scheduled three to four nights a week throughout the fall and winter.
We love having teams in our space. Team training has always been a big part of what we do at CrossFit Indestri. We took some time away from it during 2020 and the years of recovery that followed, so it’s exciting to see it becoming such a big part of our schedule again.
Team training gives us an opportunity to introduce young athletes to CrossFit in an environment where good movement, proper mechanics, hard work and having fun all matter. For some of these athletes, this will be their first experience training in a CrossFit affiliate, and we want it to be a great one.
Right now, our 6:00am crew is really the only class that regularly experiences another class coming in directly behind them. They know the routine of finishing up, putting equipment away and making space as the next group arrives. There’s a natural turnover that happens when one class ends and another is getting ready to begin. While the 9:30am, and the 6pm do experience a little of this turnover when we have fundamentals sessions, or team training previously, it hasn’t been a regular occurrence.
This fall, our 6:00pm crew is going to be experiencing this turnover regularly, so we’re going to ask for a small shift in routines. Once the 6:00pm class wraps up, we’d really appreciate everyone getting their equipment put away, grabbing their things and helping us make the transition into the 7:00pm team training session as smooth as possible.
We don’t have a separate lobby or waiting area where conversations don’t carry directly into the training space. And if you’ve ever coached a group of youth athletes in any sport, you know that getting everyone together, focused and listening in those first few minutes can already be a challenge. So we’d really appreciate everyone being mindful of that and keeping the lobby area quiet and clearing out as the team training session begins.
We know that catching up, chatting and laughing with the people you train with is a big part of what makes our community what it is, and we certainly don’t want to take that away. Instead, we’d encourage our 6:00pm crew to arrive a few minutes before class and use that time to catch up with each other before the hour begins.
We would also ask that everyone avoid gathering just outside the gym doors after the 6:00pm class. With an entire team arriving, and parents dropping athletes off, we’d really appreciate your help in keeping the entrance and surrounding area clear, helping to make their arrival and time in the facility feel as comfortable and welcoming as possible.
Ultimately, we’re asking for your help with the transition between the 6:00pm class and the 7:00pm team training session, giving the athletes coming in the opportunity to enter the facility, get settled and be ready to focus on their training.
We really appreciate you helping us to ensure transition between classes is smooth, as it’s going to be busy. We’re certainly not complaining, as a busy facility is a pretty great problem to have, and we’re looking forward to another fall and winter filled with our regular CrossFit classes, our youth programs and teams training all under the CrossFit Indestri roof.
