Challenge Yourself

Today’s workout is simple on paper: 1 lift every minute for 20 minutes. But don’t be fooled, this one isn’t about cruising through with the same weight you’d use in a metcon. It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone and pushing the weights. (With good form and technique)

You should not be ending on a weight you normally barbell cycle with. If you typically use 95/65lbs in workouts, this is your chance to go well beyond that. The intent here is to work up heavy, then drop back down by a significant amount, and climb again. These types of sessions are designed to push you to load the bar heavier than you might normally.

The goal isn’t comfort. It’s challenge.

Real adaptation, real strength, happens when you push past what feels easy and lean into what feels uncomfortable. That’s where you learn how strong you actually are.

So when your coach suggests adding another 5 or 10 pounds, take the suggestion. Trust that they see what you’re capable of, maybe before you see it yourself.

This isn’t a workout for barbell cycling or playing it safe with the same weights you always use. It’s a chance to lift heavy, test your limits, and prove to yourself that you can handle more than you think.

Get a little uncomfortable.
Go heavy.

Side note: On the flip side of this, if a coach backs you off a weight because of form, listen, again, they see something you don’t.
