While we didn’t know Becky personally, we have many mutual friends who did.

On March 26t, 2019 Becky Conzelman had an aneurysm while on a trip and had immediate surgery which looked to be successful. After the surgery it looked to be that she was on the mend, but unfortunately on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 things took a turn for the worse and Becky Passed away. She is survived by her family Husband Jim, Children Kylie & Tyler. Parents, Brother and Sister and many many dear friends.

Becky Conzelman was a leader in many ways, she was a red shirt seminar staff for CrossFit HQ, one of the founders of FaithRx'd and an outstanding role model for young girls and women everywhere. Becky was a 5x CrossFit games athlete and 2x national Track champion. The workout we’re doing today was originally designed to help raise money while Becky was trying to recover. But after her passing we began doing it annual in her honour.

To be able honour the life of someone who impacted so many both in the CrossFit community and out of it, is something we have always felt to be incredibly important. So annually as close to the 6th of April as we can get it, we do Champion for Becky. Including the year we did Champion on zoom during COVID, which was an incredibly unique experience, as we got to welcome many of Becky’s close friends in the CrossFit Community and do the workout all together over zoom with them. We got to listen to Jenny LaBaw, Guido Trinidad, Kevin Ogar, Pat Barber, Annie Sakamoto, Mike Cerbus, Talayna Fortunato, and other share stories of Becky after we all hit the workout virtually from all over the world together.

Today, we get to introduce some of you to Champion and Becky of the first time, others have done it before, some many times. As always with Hero and Tribute WODs, hold the standard, Becky was one of the red shirts, (meaning she was one of the best CrossFit coaches in the world, one who taught us as coaches), so move well please, when it gets hard lean into the hard, you can do hard things. And after the workout, go fist bump and celebrate doing hard things, with a special community of people.
