The 8pm Rush

We’ve been having a lot of conversations lately about the 9:30am class. And we want to start by saying this clearly.

We understand how frustrating it can be, trying to sign in right at 8pm, seeing the class fill within minutes, and feeling like you missed your chance. That’s not a great feeling, and we do genuinely understand that from your side.

At the same time, we want to help reframe what’s actually happening. This isn’t a 9:30am class issue. It’s an 8pm registration issue.

What we’re seeing is a rush at the moment registration opens. That initial few minutes creates a sense of urgency, and it makes it feel like the class is completely full and unavailable. But that’s not how it actually plays out.

Overnight and into the morning, that roster changes. People sign out, plans shift, and spots open back up. By the time the class runs, it often looks very different than it did at 8:01pm.

To give you an understanding for the 9:30am classes in 2026 so far:

In January, 6 of 21 classes were full.
In February, 4 of 19 classes were full.
In March, 9 of 22 classes were full.
And so far in April, 5 of 12 classes have been full.

This isn’t to say that if you have any frustration it isn’t valid. It absolutely is. But what it shows is that while the class fills quickly at 8pm, it rarely (if ever) stays that way by the time class actually starts. From a business standpoint, that does matter.

When we look at adding classes or changing the schedule, we’re not making decisions based on how quickly a class fills at 8pm. We’re looking at whether there is consistent, ongoing demand that our current schedule can’t support.

Right now, that’s not what we’re seeing. We’re not seeing a true capacity issue across the schedule. We’re seeing a high demand for one specific class, at one specific moment in time. That’s an important difference.

At the same time, adding a class does come with real considerations. It impacts coaching hours, overall class experience, and the way the day flows as a whole. So it’s not a decision we make lightly, and it’s not one we make based on a single pressure point. We’re explaining all of this, because we care, and we want you to know that we’re not ignoring this.

We’re talking about it often.
We’re keeping track of the numbers.
We’re considering different options.

So we want to share some of the things we’ve been talking through behind the scenes.

One option is slightly increasing the class cap at 9:30am. We have two coaches in the building during that time, which helps. At the same time, we have to make sure there is still enough space on the floor for everyone to move safely, and that we have the equipment to support a larger group. This impacts programming, so while it might seem like it, it’s not just a quick fix. But this is on the table.

We’ve also talked about adding a 10:30am class a couple days a week, specifically on the busier days. But that comes with trade offs too.

One of the things that makes the 9:30am class what it is, is the time around it. People come in a bit early, take their time warming up, and often stay after to chat and connect. That part matters for many. It’s part of the experience. With back to back classes, that changes. There’s less room to arrive early, zero room to stay after, as conversations in the lobby can carry into the next class while the coach is briefing. It shifts the feel of that time slot more than you might expect.

We’ve also talked about removing the 9:30am class altogether and replacing it with a 9am and 10am schedule. Again, that would change things.

As mentioned, back to back classes don’t allow for the same flow. The flexibility around arrival and staying after becomes limited. And there’s also the reality that when you split one class into two, it doesn’t always divide evenly. One class may feel full and energetic, while another may only have a couple of people in it. When we first introduced the 7am class, and the noon class there were days where it was just one or two people. That changes the vibe of what you know completely.

We’ve also talked about adjusting sign out windows. One option would be to remove the ability to sign out of a class within a longer window, for example up to 10 hours before class time. The idea behind that would be to slow down the 8pm rush, encouraging people to only sign into a class if they’re 100% certain they can attend. But we also know that life happens. You might wake up not feeling great. Work schedules change. Things come up that are out of your control. And we don’t want to create a system that penalizes people for that. So while it’s something we’ve discussed, it’s not a direction we’re eager to go, because we do understand that flexibility matters.

We’re sharing all of this so you can understand how much thought goes into these decisions. They’re not quick changes, and they’re not simple ones either. But we also want to be honest about what the situation actually is. It’s not that all classes are completely full and you can’t get in to train. It’s that a lot of people enjoy coming to the 9:30am class time.

We appreciate that so many of you want to be here at 9:30am, and while we know it’s not always ideal, and sometimes it’s not possible, we do encourage you to stay flexible when you can. If 9:30am is full, there are still other class times available. Give another class time a try. Meet new people, maybe experience a different coach.

All this to say, we are monitoring that class, and weighing all the options.
We are not just ignoring it, we’re working through it thoughtfully.

We truly do care.‍ ‍
