Why you need a WOD book

If we asked you right now, what’s your 1RM deadlift? Or what’s your Grace time? Of how much you can Snatch in a barbell cycling WOD. How many of you would know the answer?

Some of you could rattle it off without hesitation. Others would head straight to grab your WOD book and look it up. And for the rest of you, why aren’t you keeping track?

Keeping track in a WOD book isn’t just about scribbling down numbers. It’s about measuring your progress and giving yourself the best chance to improve. Fitness is measurable. But only if you’re keeping track to be able to measure it.

WOD books aren’t just for max lifts either. Write down:

  • What weight you used

  • How long the workout took you

  • How you felt that day (didn’t sleep well, sore from yesterday, crushed it, etc.)

That way, when a benchmark WOD comes up again, you’ll have a record to look back on and see how much stronger, faster, and fitter you’ve become.

A WOD book also helps you set meaningful goals. Let’s say your last Grace time was 4:05 with the prescribed weight. Without a record, you might shrug and just “hope to be faster next time.” But if you have it written down, you can set a concrete goal: aim to shave 6 seconds off and go for 3:59.

Tracking workouts gives you a clear path forward instead of relying on vague memories.

If you haven’t been consistent with recording your workouts, now’s the time to start. Make it part of your routine every time you train. Writing your stuff down in a WODbook is your personal record of effort, growth, and progress. Every number you track today is proof of how far you’ve come tomorrow. Start now. Keep track, and give yourself the chance to see just how fit you really are.

This is your sign, from your coaches, that we want you to have a book. Not a list on notes in your phone, and actual physical book that you can bring on the floor with you. If you don’t have one already, we have some available for purchase in our shop indestri retail area, or bring your own. We even have a bookshelf beside the sink where you can store them if you don’t think you’ll remember to bring it each day. Just make sure to write your first and last name on the cover.

We just had new WOD books arrive, with the Hard is not a punishment design on the cover.
