How Cool Is CrossFit?

We’ll start by saying this, we’d never put down another form of training. If you’re moving your body, working on your health, and taking care of yourself, we love to see it. Fitness in any form is a good thing.

But, every once in a while, something happens inside our facility that reminds us just how incredibly special CrossFit is.

On Wednesday, during the Finding the Light workout, we looked around the gym and saw something amazing, every single athlete was doing the workout with their eyes closed. No visual reference, no clock, no cues from watching the person next to them. Just feel, trust, and awareness.

And it reminded us: how frigging cool CrossFit is.

You all took the time to experience what a workout feels like for Kym, a CrossFit Games/WheelWOD adaptive athlete who is visually impaired. While 99.9% of you have never met her, you showed up, shut your eyes, and trained the way she trains every single day. That’s powerful. That’s empathy in motion.

And even more incredible, how cool is it that CrossFit, through WheelWOD, has created a space where an athlete like Kym can train right alongside able bodied athletes and never be treated differently?

There’s simply no other form of training, or facility model, that’s as capable of adapting for any level, any ability, any person as CrossFit is, period.

From seated athletes, to visually impaired athletes, to pregnant athletes, to someone with a broken leg, a knee replacement, or a temporary limitation, we’ve got you. Every movement can be scaled, adapted, and coached in a way that challenges you appropriately and keeps you progressing safely.

CrossFit has unfairly carried a reputation for being “unsafe” for years, but the truth is, it’s the safest, most effective, and most inclusive training methodology in the world. It’s built on sound movement principles, intentional progression, and the belief that fitness is for everyone.

So yeah, CrossFit is cool.
But not just because of barbells, PRs, or epic workouts.
It’s cool because of moments like that, when a room full of people close their eyes and move, not just to get fitter, but to understand someone else’s experience.

That’s community.
That’s empathy.
That’s CrossFit.
