Spot the Door

You've probably noticed the chalkboard sign at the door on days when we run. It’s not just decor, it’s there to keep us safe.

Here’s the deal: when we’re running out or coming back in, it’s easy to get caught up in the pace and forget that others might be doing the exact same thing in the opposite direction. That’s where "Spotting the Door" comes in.

Stay to the right. When going out, and coming in.

Just like driving, we keep right.
When you're heading out for a run, stick to the right side of the doorway. That gives you a clear view of anyone who might be coming in, so you don’t end up in a head on collision with a another athlete.

And when you’re coming back in, same rule, stay to the right. The person entering the gym has the right of way. They’ve just come from bright daylight and need a second for their eyes to adjust. Allow them to enter before you run out please.

If we have the chalkboard sign out, please use the sign.

We often have a “ IN / OUT” sign set up right at the door. It's simple, but it makes a big difference. Take a quick glance before you blast through the doorway. If everyone uses it and stays to the right, we avoid unnecessary collisions.

A little bit of awareness will go a long way to avoid running into one another.

Whether it's a 200m sprint or a 1 mile grind, we’re all in the same WOD together, so let’s look out for each other. Stay right. Spot the door, and please give the athletes running in the right of way.
