Thank You

First, thank you.

Thank you to all the women who reached out, commented, messaged, or chatted with us after we floated the idea of hosting a ladies’ night to talk about the changing seasons we go through as women.

The response made one thing pretty clear: there’s an interest in having these conversations.

And maybe even a need for them.

If CrossFit has taught us anything over the years, it’s that we can do hard things.

We can walk up to a barbell we’re not entirely sure we can lift. We can start a workout knowing it’s going to hurt. We can show up on the days when we’re tired, stressed, overwhelmed or just not feeling like ourselves.

But CrossFit has also taught us something else.

Hard things feel a little more manageable when you’re doing them alongside people who support you.

There’s something powerful about looking around and realizing you’re not the only one struggling. You’re not the only one having a hard day. And sometimes you don’t need someone to fix it. Sometimes you just need someone beside you who gets it.

I think the same can probably be said about some of the different seasons we go through as women.

On a personal note, to those of you who have had some really meaningful conversations with me over the last few days, I really, really appreciate it.

I’ve shared a little bit lately about not entirely feeling like myself. And that hasn’t necessarily been easy for me to admit.

When you’re someone who is strong, a do’er, a get shit done kind of person, it can be hard to say, “Actually, I don’t really feel like I have it all together right now.”

It can be hard to admit that maybe you need to protect your peace a little better than you have been. That things that normally roll off your back suddenly don’t. That your energy, patience, training, and body feel different and you’re not entirely sure what to do with that.

There’s a vulnerability in saying that out loud.

But what I’ve realized through some of these conversations is that there are a lot of women quietly navigating their own version of it.

Different ages. Different stages. Different experiences.

So maybe getting together for an evening and talking about it isn’t such a bad idea.

Maybe we bring in some local women who work in women’s health and hormones to give us some actual education around what’s happening in our bodies. Maybe we talk about training through different stages of our lives. Maybe women who have already been through some of these seasons can share what helped them. Maybe those of us currently standing right in the middle of one can ask questions.

And maybe the younger women in our community get to hear conversations many of us wish we had heard years ago.

We don’t have all the details figured out yet, but we’ll keep everyone updated as we start making plans.

And as many of you know, we don’t half ass things.

So if we’re going to do this, we’re going to do it right.

We want this to be more than just an evening of women sitting around talking about hormones. We want women to leave with a better understanding of their bodies, with questions answered, with resources they can actually use, and maybe most importantly, knowing they have people around them who understand.

We want to arm women with support and knowledge. Because both are power.
