While we didn’t know Becky Conzelman personally, we have many mutual friends in the CrossFit space who did. 

On March 26th, 2019 Becky Conzelman had an aneurysm while on a trip and had immediate surgery which looked to be successful. After the surgery she had woken up and was thought to be on the mend but unfortunately on April 6th, 2019 things took a turn for the worse and Becky Passed away. She was survived by her family Husband Jim, Children Kylie & Tyler. Parents, Brother and Sister and many many dear friends, some of whom as we mentioned are our friends as well.

So in 2019 when they released the workout Champion for Becky, we joined in and did the workout, and we have every year since. Even during the COVID shutdowns, we would virtually do champion for Becky. In fact during the shutdown, it gave us the unique opportunity to do Champion and honour Becky with the CrossFit Community worldwide. We hosted a virtual workout and invited her friends in the community to join us. Friends like Jenny LaBaw, Kevin Ogar, Pat Barber, Annie Sakamoto, Michele Letendre, Guido Trinidad, Mike Cerbus, Talayna Fortunato, Gretchen Kittelberger, Nicole Biscuiti, and more.

Becky was a leader in many ways, she was a red shirt, which is CrossFit HQ seminar staff, one of the founders of FaithRx'd and an outstanding role model for young girls and women everywhere. She was a 5x CrossFit games athlete and 2x national Track champion. The workout we’re doing today was originally designed to help raise money while Becky was trying to recover, and since 2019 it has served as a workout we do to honour her, and introduce who she was to all the new members we have to do it each year.

To be able honour the life of someone who has impacted so many both in the CrossFit community and out, is something we feel is incredibly important, and is why we continue to do Champion each year.

15 Overhead Squats 135/95 lb
10 Burpee Box Jump Overs 24/20 in
800m Row ( this is a run, but due to the weather we will row)
